Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy has been used for thousands of years and is no longer considered an indulgence but rather a valuable tool for treatment of injury, increasing health and overall wellness. Massage has proven beneficial in treating chronic conditions and injuries. Our massage therapists have had great success in relieving the symptoms of back pain, sports injuries, tendonitis, headaches & migraines, muscular sprain/strain and repetitive strain injury (ITB syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome).

Some benefits of massage include:

  • Relaxes and softens tired, overused and injured muscles.
  • Improves circulation.
  • Increases the release of endorphins helping ease pain.
  • Facilitates relaxation.
  • Improves movement and increases range of motion and flexibility.
  • Reduces stress by lowering the levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) released

Deep Tissue/Sports Massage – A technique that targets specific muscles/muscle groups to release deeply held muscle patterns in order to improve flexibility and performance. A technique that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.

Prenatal Massage – For the expectant mother massage is a safe and effective treatment for the aches and pains during pregnancy. Specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well being of both mother and baby.

Swedish Massage – A Western style of massage that consists of long flowing strokes combined with active and passive movements of the joints that help the patient relax and de-stress. It helps with promoting better circulation and flushing the system of toxins.
